Andy Murray reaches French Open semi-finals
Andy Murray has reached the French Open semi-finals with a hard-fought victory over Kei Nishikori.
The world number one struggled with his opponent’s huge baseline hitting on Philippe Chatrier, but slowly warmed to his task as he secured a 2-6 6-1 7-6(0) 6-1 victory.
Despite holding the top spot in the ATP world rankings since November, the 30-year-old has exceeded pre-tournament expectations in Paris but he will now have the belief that he can reach a second successive final.
Murray will now play former champion Stanislas Wawrinka in the semi-finals after the Swiss beat Marin Cilic in straight sets.
